2008 Terms & Conditions

Please review our Terms and Conditions before booking your training and jump, or before purchasing flight tickets. If you make a booking or perform any other transaction with Skydive Airkix, either directly or through an agent, you will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions and they form the basis of your contract with Airkix Skydiving Limited trading as ‘Skydive Airkix’. If you are unsure or have any questions, please contact us before making your payment.

All persons attending the Solo Parachuting (RAPS) Course, Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Course, or making a Tandem Skydive are required to purchase through us Provisional Student Membership of the British Parachute Association (BPA). This membership is valid for twelve months, and the cost is set out on our price lists (currently £27-30p). Membership of the BPA includes Legal Liability Insurance up to the value of £2,000,000. Once purchased, membership of the BPA is non-refundable and non-transferable.

The BPA Legal Liability Insurance covers you for Third Party risks only, and provides no cover for Personal Accident or Injury or Death. Personal Accident Insurance can be arranged for you by Skydive Airkix, and we strongly suggest that if you do not use the insurer that we recommend, you ensure that you are adequately covered before you commence training (or jumping if you are a regular skydiver).

A non-refundable deposit of £100 per person is required when booking any training course place. Bookings may be changed more than seven days in advance without charge. An administration fee of £50 will be payable if you change the date of your booking with seven days or less notice, unless changed because of bad weather or operational issues at the parachute centre. Anyone failing to show up on the day of their booking will lose the value of the deposit paid. RAPS, Tandem and AFF Courses and Gift Vouchers purchased are valid only for 12-months from the date of the purchase and will then expire.

Payment is accepted by most credit and debit cards, cash or cheque, however cheques will only be accepted if endorsed by Skydive Airkix with the appropriate cheque guarantee card. No business / company cheques will be accepted.

The balance due to Skydive Airkix can be paid at any time up to and including the day of training. Once paid, monies are non-refundable for any reason. If the activity is not able to take place due to weather or operational issues, it will be up to you to return to the parachute centre on another occasion or occasions to complete your jump. In case of bad weather, you will be rebooked at no additional cost.

For Flight Ticket Only sales: tickets are valid for 12-moths from the date of purchase and will then expire; tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable in any event; and exchanged PPC tickets are also subject to Skydive Airkix Terms & Conditions, though they will expire on 31st December 2008 in any event.

You understand that, despite the best training and equipment, parachuting and skydiving in any form holds an element of risk and may result in serious injury or death. You voluntarily accept all risks inherent in the sport and agree for yourself and your personal representatives to indemnify and hold harmless Skydive Airkix the trading name of Airkix Skydiving Limited, and their representatives against any claim or claims whether on your own account or from third parties arising out of any accident or incident resulting in any loss or damage including bodily injury or death. If you cannot accept these risks you must not participate.

Parachutists need a reasonably high standard of physical fitness, and must not be overweight in relation to their sex, age and height. Please note that the minimum age for parachuting is 16 and the maximum age is 55 for RAPS and AFF, unless you have previous parachuting experience or exceptional fitness. Anyone under 18 must have the written consent of a parent or guardian in standard BPA format. The upper age limit for Tandem Skydivers is 70.

Anyone aged 40 or over, including Tandem Skydivers, and anyone suffering or who has suffered from the following conditions, must have a Parachute Medical Certificate signed by their GP:

Epilepsy, fits, severe head injury, recurrent blackouts or giddiness, disease of the brain or nervous system, high blood pressure, heart or lung disease, recurrent weakness or dislocation of any limb, diabetes, mental illness, drug or alcohol addiction, previous fractures, back strain, arthritis and severe joint sprains, chronic bronchitis, asthma, rheumatic fever, pneumothorax, liver or kidney disease, thyroid, adrenal or other glandular disorder, chronic ear or sinus disease. Any condition which requires the regular use of drugs. Anaemia. Recent blood donation.

If any of these conditions apply to you, or a member of your group, please telephone the parachute centre and we will forward the necessary forms. We must have the completed Parental Consent / Medical Declaration prior to commencing RAPS. AFF or Tandem Skydive training. Please bring those documents with you on the day, as they may get lost in the post.

If you arrive at the parachute centre without all the necessary documentation, you may forfeit your activity and all monies paid. If you are unsure about the paperwork required, please contact us. No alcohol must be consumed before or while training, or before skydiving. Skydive Airkix instructors have the right to refuse to let anyone train or jump who is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

If taking part in RAPS or AFF training, please study the height / weight chart on the Medical Declaration Form, as persons who are unfit or overweight relative to their height cannot be accepted for training.

The maximum weight is 14.5 stones (92kg) for RAPS and AFF training, and 15 stones (95 kg) for Tandem Skydives. The final decision as to the suitability of any person to jump will be made by the Chief Instructor at Skydive Airkix, and being accepted for training does not automatically entitle you to jump from an aircraft if we deem you to be unfit or in anyway unsuitable. If you have any queries regarding the age and fitness requirements, please contact the parachute centre.

If taking part in wind tunnel training at Airkix Milton Keynes, separate Airkix terms and conditions apply to all flight bookings made by you or by Skydive Airkix on your behalf. Please review those Terms and Conditions before booking with us at www.airkix.com.

All prices, offers, terms and conditions and any promotions may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice.

Finally, as skydiving requires reasonably good weather, if the forecast is particularly bad (very high winds) we ask you to telephone us on 01832 280490 to check on whether or not you will be likely to jump.
